Why Concierge Therapy Services?
Quite simple, to serve you better. Because treatment is not contingent on health insurance or managed care companies, we can bypass insurance company restrictions and offer personalized services. Insurance company's may limit the session length, the amount of sessions, or what psychological tests can be used. Through adopting a concierge business model, we can treat each individual without restraints from outside sources.
More on Managed Care Coverage Challenges:
- Medical necessity is often a requirement for psychological services to be covered by insurance. This means your provider must diagnose a psychiatric condition to authorize treatment.
- There may be a lack of confidentiality in that your attendance in therapy is part of your medical record and your chart (including therapy notes) which could then be reviewed by an insurance agent in the event of an audit.
- Couples, marital, and relationship counseling are not typically covered by insurance.
- Life coaching, Stress Management, and bereavement are not typically covered by insurance.
- Pre-authorization is often required before receiving services such as psychological evaluations.
- Gifted testing and Psychoeducational Evaluations are often denied nor covered by insurance companies.
- There are often restrictions on how often you see your therapist.
A concierge, private-pay style of practice provides client-centered treatment plans. Our providers can offer extended appointment times because we are not bound by managed care and there is no third-party to access your medical record.
Can I Still Use My Insurance?
Quality psychological care can be costly so it is understandable that getting reimbursed for a portion of the costs can relieve some financial burden. If your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits, you can see any licensed provider of your choosing and the plan may reimburse you a percentage after the deductible is met. Coverage also assumes that you have met diagnostic criteria for a psychiatric condition meeting medical necessity for treatment. At the time of your therapy appointment, you are financially responsible for the service fee, then we provide you with an invoice, which is called a Superbill, which you can then submit to your insurance company.
