At Bossong Psychological Services, we start by listening to your needs and the outcome that you hope to reach with completion of the evaluation. This allows us to provide a professional recommendation about what type of evaluation you require and ensure that you understand the process and possible results. When completing evaluations, we utilize assessments that are accepted as the gold standard in the field so that you can have confidence in the results and, should legal proceedings arise, will withstand judicial scrutiny.
Bossong Psychological Services offer evaluations that assess the following areas:
Learning Disabilities
Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Gifted/Talent Development Placement
Anxiety, Depression and Externalizing Behaviors (Opposition and Conduct Concerns)
Personality Testing
Vocational/Career Guidance
Court Ordered Evaluations
Competency Evaluations
As part of the evaluation, our team will take a thorough history including social, familial, academic, and developmental history, as well as when certain concerning symptoms occur. By measuring behaviors through a variety of standardized psychological and academic tests, we will use the results to diagnosis and create a comprehensive list of recommendations to help achieve success.
Is there a difference between Psychological and Psychoeducational Evaluations?
The Short Answer? YES!
However, there is some overlap. Psychoeducational testing is conducted when there is a need to understand the ways in which cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning could be impacting educational progress. This includes learning disabilities, giftedness, processing disorders, or emotional symptoms such as depression or anxiety. With this information, the evaluator can provide recommendations for improving academic success and educational growth. A psychological evaluation will focus primarily on psychological functioning to identify or clarify a mental health diagnosis. These evaluations are often recommended when there is a known or suspected mental illness/diagnosis. Other providers working with you (such as a physician or therapist) may recommend the evaluation to confirm a diagnosis, receive assistance with planning the best course of treatment, or as justification for a higher level of care.
